Archway
Archway is an area of north London in the London Borough of Islington. In recent years Archway has seen an increase in young middle-class residents, attracted to Archway by its proximity to traditionally more desirable areas such as Upper Street and Highgate, the accessibility of Hampstead Heath and Waterlow Park, and its public transport connections to central London. Prominent buildings in the area include the Whittington hospital, at Highgate Hill, named after Richard Whittington. Outside the hospital is a small statue of Whittington's Cat. The area is dominated by the Archway Tower, a large forbidding building regarded as a classic piece of 1960s Brutalist architecture. Transport facilities include Archway & Tufnell Park Tube Stations (Northern Line) |
